Mine like the removeable nozzle on the hoover, they use it as a microphone, a sword, a walking stick, a trumpet, a trunk (when being elephants) And more recently a tool to knock off toys i have put in high places which are annoying me! Hours of fun

Sam is a good bit younger than your son & is still in the banging saucepans with a wooden spoon, sitting in a cardboard box, hiding under a towel, playing in my make up bag phase.

What about books/paints etc? Or I am living in a dream world about what boys are like at 3? Wishful thinking perhaps? A fort of some kind that he can use in the house? ELC do things like that & are quite reasonable.

A large cardboard box is a brilliant thing to play with if you are three. If you don't want to look like you haven't just given him a cardboard box you could give something like this: http://www.cardboardtoys.com/acatalog/cardboard-castle-playhouse.html

I happen to have an enormous roll of bubble wrap in my garage (I over ordered when we moved). You can have it and wrap it up for him - hours of entertainment!! Hmm, presents... I'll have a think about it too x

Gotta love the bubble wrap. My boy is 3 tomorrow. We have arranged for a load of bubble wrap to appear. This will be the highlight of the day (well, it definitely isn't going to be the cake!).

Don't you just love the energy of boys! If it was summer you could get some water onto a heavy rubbish bag for them to slide down (fix together for more fun and danger and bumped knees). No snow left?

Can you get something that you could make resemble a mast on a pirate boat? We turn the sofa into a pirate boat regularly and then they spend hours on cushions/bubble wrap pretending to rescue each other from sharks and walking the plank. Sometimes I hide some crisps (treasure) and draw them a map to where it is hidden. Quite often we jump eras and end up with pillow bombs which they love and I am not so keen on.

Am going to think about this... a thing to exhaust a 4 year old that isn't a toy... and I'll be trying out any other suggestions that yuo get!
