For years now, my friends and I have asked the same question …
“When will they be old enough to play Sleeping Lions?”
Just so we can get 5 minutes peace every now and again.
Now we know.

Between 4 and 5 years is the magic number.

As a kid this was as much fun as my Grandad’s ‘how long can you make a polo mint last for’ game.
Enjoy it while you can!

We had the sucking of the fruit pastille game. Used to last for ages if I remember rightly. Hmmm, another one to add to my ‘5 minutes peace’ games.

I had forgot all about sleeping lions!!

Now I know what you’ll be doing this Christmas!

We always call it Dead Lions but I am thinking maybe sleeping lions is a samewhat less sinister name for it. My 3yo has just mastered it – bliss!!
admin on December 23, 2009
I think Dead Lions would last a lot longer … Hmmm.
Vic on December 23, 2009
I’d forgotten that game – and I love you for reminding me of it. It’s gonna be just as good as the who can stay quiet the longest game.

The quietest game never lasts long enough for my liking!

Fod some strange reason we call it sleeping logs. I’ve tried to persuade Big E to play on more than one occasion recently and he was having none of it.
Might try it with lions ’cause 1 or 2 years is a long time to wait for thise elusive 5 minutes!
admin on December 23, 2009
It was well worth it, especially as we got them to play it on and off for 30 minutes.
audreyhorneforever on December 23, 2009
What with that and ‘hide the reindeer’ we are pretty much sorted for NYE…
admin on December 23, 2009
Is it just me or does ‘hide the reindeer’ just sound wrong? Looking forward to spending NYE with you.
Was looking at the pictures of your proudly displaying your buns at Teacher Friend Mother of 3’s house last night, will upload them to FB over the festive period.

Evil. Mind you, when we drove to France, we used to play ‘who can be quiet the longest’, which was probably slightly cynical…
Ah well, they’re not young (and easily manipulated) for long.
Heh.

Ha, I remember celebrating the first year we managed to convince Mr B’s nephew that this was the best game in the world ever. He passed out for an hour while we cracked open the red wine and revelled in not having to assemble Lego.
