Last night as I was drifting off to sleep I started to think about the name of my blog. As you do.
Naming my blog was almost as difficult as naming my children and I remember the selection process taking a while. I thought about the ones that got away and found the original shortlist in the back of my notebook.
Here they are …
Where Did You Put Your Brother?
Wake Me Up When It’s Over
Only 6570 Sleeps Till They Leave Home
What Do You Mean You Don’t Like Carrots Today?
Move On, There’s Nothing To See Here
Stop Asking Why
The Answer Is ‘I Don’t Know’
If I’d Designed You I’d Have Added a Volume Button
Snot Trails I Have Known and Loved
I’m Going to Count to 3
Mothers Guilt : A Dish Best Served Raw
I’m glad I chose Are We Nearly There Yet Mummy? because it sums up my life perfectly.
How did you choose the name of your blog?

Can’t actually remember how mine got named so. Think a work colleague came up with it.
Had i read this list when I was thinking one up though, I would have so plumped for ‘Only 6570 Sleeps Till They Leave Home’ – it would take some typing out every time I left a comment anywhere, but it would have SO been worth it!
Kath@Parklover on October 29, 2009
I decided to state the bleedin’ obvious with my name. I really wanted to call it Parklife, but feared legal action from Damon Albarn or else lots of angry comments from disgruntled Blur fans.
I wanted something clever and funny, but thought it would be pointless if nobody knew what it was supposed to be about! So I ended up with a name which is neither clever nor funny, but does what it says on the tin. Unless you are after a very different kind of “parklove”, in which case I believe there are “specialist” sites out there which will cater to your needs…

This is why I LOVE questions like this because you get great answers like Kath’s! Brilliant. x
Corey Schwartz on October 29, 2009
Oh, they are all great! (But you did select the best
Claire on October 29, 2009
We’ve just renamed ours: And then there were three …. because there was three of us. Not funny, not clever and Im not even witty like Kath! I am with Tara though, love ‘Only 6570 Sleeps Till They Leave Home’ te he he xx
Brit in Bosnia on October 29, 2009
I LOVE only 6570 sleeps until they leave home. That’s my favourite.
Brits in Bosnia was pretty self obvious. But when we get back I’ll have to come up with something new if I carry on blogging, so I’ll be back here for some ideas….
Mwa on October 29, 2009
I just picked something out of thin air. Actually, for two days or something it was called “Because what the world needs is another mommyblog”.
Annie on October 29, 2009
I feel mine is pretty pathetic really. Incessant Ramblings because basically I ramble on incessantly about anything and everything, and very often, once I get started, I can’t stop LOL
Hayley on October 29, 2009
I am glad you chose the current title too, it’s quirky and kinda fun.
It’s all the better for having a cool header like you have as well.
London City Mum on October 29, 2009
Think mine is pretty obvious? Not sure if entirely original, but there was noone else out there blogging in the same ‘vein’, so to speak.
I love your list above. I would have added:
Yup, yup, yup, now hurry up.
Jo on October 29, 2009
Brilliant post.
My favourite of the ones that got away would have to be ’snot trails I have known and loved’. It is so typically about children.
As for my name, well it came about after I had to reinvent myself and it was a name I had used in my teens and early 20s.
I had written a post with this same title but on an old blog, but with a very different subject.

I never gave the name that much thought but I’ve never regretted it, it just seems to fit, unlike my awful avatar (soon to be updated)
Insomniac Mummy on October 29, 2009
Could you imagine your twitter name:
LauraO6570STTLH
I’d've mistaken you for a spambot
Mines self explanitory *yawn*.
Scope on October 29, 2009
“Scope” has been my nickname for 25 years. About 10 years ago, I was doing some creative writing about flying monkeys, and decided that I need a research company to actually be the ones with the labs, etc. So, I dubbed my imaginary company “Scope-Tech.”

Mine was just how I felt – I didn’t want something to do with kids because I wanted to write about more than that – and “Life totally destroyed” would not gather readers
or account for any happy blogs I post – I love your list though – very very clever.
ooh I could have called it “Will someone get your Father” as that is sentence most said while blogging
English Mum on October 30, 2009
Mine started out life as englishmuminireland.blogs.ie which was very long winded. Englishmum.com is a bit easier, but everyone things I’m a maternal 50 year old with an ample bosom who wears a headscarf. Luckily you know better

It took me a while to come up with anything – I have no imagination. Then I was listening to Tom Lehrer and ’sliding down the razor-blade of life’ seemed to suit me distressingly well. I suspect I adopted my writing style to fit it, too, and in the past years I’ve become very like my blogging persona.
Very Bored Housewife on October 30, 2009
Mines self explanatory also, I’m a housewife and spend most of my time whilst son is at school and t’husband at work bored senseless!
Wish I’d of taken the time out though to think of something a little bit more quirky, it’s not like I don’t have enough time on my hands…. oh well…. next time!
mrs worthington on October 30, 2009
like most people you go with the obvious with a yearning to do something clever. We could have been so easily god mum you are so embarrassing, or when are you going to get up . Choosing suitable pseudonyms was great fun though…
Ellen on October 30, 2009
I love the “sleeps” too!
Trouble is my baby is 21, and now I look forward to the nights he sleeps under my roof.
Oh yeah,
my name came when I turned 50,
happily….smiles.
Thatgirl39 on October 31, 2009
Love the sleeps one and the snot trails! I think you know why I chose my blog name… cos I got old!! x
Victoria on October 31, 2009
I like only 6xxx sleeps til they leave home. I feel like that some days, although knowing my luck they’ll live at home til they’re in their thirties. My husband chose our blog name as we love Disneyland and particularly the Small World ride in a kitchy sort of way. Also it seemed to sum up what we were doing. I’m hoping children around the world are dressed in cute national costumes.
BareNakedMummy on October 31, 2009
I thought of mine really quickly and was quite shocked that it hadn’t been taken.
Then I got really worried that people (*dodgy people) would think it was something other than a mummy blog!

I like the snot trails name — can I use it?!
Jodie at Mummy Mayhem on November 3, 2009
I originally went with Margarita Mum, even set it up as that, because I love a good Margarita! But then I wondered if people would think I was just in to alcohol? (Which partly, I am. Who doesn’t love a wine or a cocktail at the end of a busy day?) And then I figured it wasn’t really a complete explanation of my life. Mummy Mayhem came about because I always feel like I’m surrounded by the mayhem, and getting on the computer and blogging helps me to escape it!
